Katie Paterson (born 1981, Glasgow) collaborates with scientists and other experts – including geologists, perfumers and lighting engineers – to create artworks that delve into deep space and time, light and perception, geology and the material world. She has worked with NASA to determine the scent of Saturn’s moon and the European Space Agency to send a meteorite back to space. Her work is about our relationship as humans with the vastness and wonder of universe, our desire to know the unknown and see the unseen.
