10am-5pm / Pie Factory Margate, 5 Broad Street Free
Thu 1 Feb 2018 - Tue 6 Feb 2018
Private View: Thursday 1st February 6-9pm
In this exhibition at Pie Factory Margate, seven Painters explore T.S. Eliot’s The Waste Land. Eliot’s poem alludes to feelings, history, mythology and the natural world. As painters, we interpret through our experience - whether it is from observation, a memory or imagination.
The artists in this exhibition are a group of painters formed in London. Brought together through their use of figuration, each artist uses memory, imagination and observation.
The artists: Alison Boult, Katie Brookes, Nikki Gardham, Rebecca Harper, Kathryn Maple, Elizabeth McCarten, Leon Pozniakow
This is an independent event organised by members of the public in response to Turner Contemporary's invitation to create an event or activity inspired by The Waste Land, T.S. Eliot's legacy, and Turner Contemporary's exhibition Journeys with 'The Waste Land'.
