What is STEAM?
STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. These are the innovators, educators, leaders, and learners of the 21st century!
This event will include:
- Keynote speakers providing information and practical ideas about Getting Started with Arts Award.
- Case Studies around the STEM/ STEAM progression in Kent, looking at collaboration and new resources
- A practical workshop in Creative Coding in partnership with GEEK festival at Dreamland
- Free Lunch and refreshments
The event is open to anyone working with young people, in schools or alternative provision, artists and students.
The event finishes at 4pm, followed by networking drinks at Cinq Ports until 6.30pm.
During the CPD event there will be further opportunity for networking and sharing your ideas with others. No previous knowledge or experience of delivering Arts Award is required however it is advised that participants visit the Arts Award website prior to attending.
