£4 per child / free*

Inspired by the exhibition Self we are delighted to offer Thanet secondary schools a free workshop linked to the SMSC Curriculum.

Through a free 90 minute workshop, pupils will explore how they make images of themselves and others. They will explore important issues in a playful and meaningful way, referring to images from historical paintings to photographs that they might post on Instagram. They will explore moral and ethical issues in relation to representation and gender.

Through practical and creative activities and discussion relating to SMSC, they will explore beliefs and experience; feelings and values; enjoy learning about oneself, others and the surrounding world; use imagination and creativity and reflect. Working with Turner Contemporary will enable pupils to participate in stimulating cultural opportunities.

Workshop content has been developed in consultation with a group of 16 to 19 year olds who have been working on related issues at Turner Contemporary, and with artist Felicity Allen.

Ideas, questions and thoughts that your pupils have may be fed into a free SMSC learning resource that will be available to all schools from April 2015.

To book a free workshop please email or call 01843 233000
We can adapt the session for pupils from Year 7 to Year 13.

* We can offer one free workshop for up to 35 pupils per Thanet Secondary School.
Other schools can book this session at £4 per head (minimum charge £40)
