Whitstable’s Samba Pelo Mar, the Kent Youth Band, Ramsgate Arts and others play out our opening celebrations throughout Bank Holiday Monday.

With music workshops, lantern workshops and more, this is set to be a memorable day for the whole community to enjoy.

Time: 10am–7pm
Location: Terrace, Foyle Rooms, Sunley Gallery, Learning Studio


Visitors will be welcomed with music and performance from:


10-10.30am - Sounds Fresh Sports Band, South Terrace

10.30-11am -  Isle of Thanet Girls’ Brigade and East Kent Boys’ Brigade, South Terrace

10am-3pm - Fly your Flag and Light up your Lantern workshop with artists Emily Tull and Jenny Duff, Clore Learning Studio

 

We welcome you to join in the celebration. Make yourself a flag to wave alongside the procession.

Help us light up Margate Harbour Arm by making colourful lanterns in preparation for the finale celebratory fiesta parade with Samba Pelo Mar.

Our Foyle Rooms will be busy with different workshops throughout the day. Join in the fun and learn how to shake, rattle and roll with percussion and movement workshops.

11am-12 noon - Pie Factory Music - African Drumming workshop, Foyle Rooms

12.30-2pm - Creative Movement and Dance, Foyle Rooms

2.30-3.30pm - Samba Pelo Mar Workshop, Foyle Rooms

4pm -  The Finale Parade & Performance, Margate Harbour Arm

5pm - TURNER: 10 Sketches by Ramsgate Arts, Foyle Rooms
