Tue 19 - Mon 25 Apr 2011

In the 1980s, 1200 places in Europe were considered for the site of Eurodisney. Margate didn’t make the list but then, it had Dreamland.

Graphic designers Åbäke – Patrick Lacey, Kajsa Stahl, Benjamin Reichen and Maki Suzuki from Sweden, England and France – will be the artists-in-residence at the Kent Cultural Baton.

Taking inspiration from places that are recognised for pleasure such as Disneyland, the group will create a map of Margate featuring fictitious and real places with sites of significance around the town and surrounding area.

To complement Åbäke’s research, visitors are invited to use their knowledge and imagination to add new places and stories to the map, creating an ‘alternative’ map of Margate that people can then use.

Time: 2–5pm
Location: Margate Harbour Arm
