From 16-25 April, we hosted a ten-day festival to celebrate the opening of Turner Contemporary. Designed to complement our opening exhibition, Revealed: Turner Contemporary Opens, the ten day programme of commissions and events brought amazing artists and musicians to Margate.

The whole of Margate celebrated, with lots of events in the Old Town, on the Harbour Arm and across the town. Take a look at the events below.

EVENTS IN MARGATE

  • Margate museum opening
    Sat 16- Mon 18 April, 11am-5pm daily, Margate Old Town, Market Place, free
    The Museum will be staffed by volunteers from the Friends of the Margate Museum.  The Margate Museum contains historical objects from Margate rich cultural past. The building was once a goal and magistrates court.
  • Margate Bazaar
    Starting Sun 17 April from 10am-3pm
    A beautiful and 'bazaar' market in Margate Old Town every sunday with a market selling vintage items, handcrafted goods to bric-a-brac, from souvenirs to art works by local artists, from flowers to sweets and of course, other miscellaneous items too numerous to mention. Something for everyone!   • Artists Alley
    Sun 17 April 10am-3pm
    As part of the Margate Bazaar, Artist Alley is a casual space which runs between the Mayors Parlour & the Museum and is open to all artist both practising and those studying from all disciplines to take part.  If you want to find out more get in touch through the Margate Bazaar event.
  • This is Margate

    Pop up at the Pie, Pie Factory Margate, 7 Broad Street, free
