Michael Craig Martin’s striking neon Turning Pages has become the first ever installation at Turner Contemporary's new gallery.

Positioned on the gallery’s entrance wall, the neon’s carefully timed flashing re-enacts the turning pages of a book and will greet every visitor as they enter this exciting space, from our opening on 16 April onwards.

The work was originally commissioned in 1975 by Kent County Council for Margate Library.

Turner Contemporary has commissioned Michael Craig Martin to make a new version of the neon as a permanent art work in the gallery, to emphasise our hometown’s cultural history and highlight Turner Contemporary’s continuing position as a stimulating place for learning and discovery.
