Sir David Chipperfield, the architect who designed Turner Contemporary, has received the Royal Medal for Architecture at a prestigious ceremony in London.

The medal is for a lifetime's achievement and follows the success of Chipperfield's portfolio of projects, including the rebuilt bombed-out Neues Museum in Berlin, Barcelona's law courts abroad and now Turner Contemporary and The Hepworth Wakefieldhere in the UK.

BBC Arts Editor Will Gompertz met the architect and previewed our stunning new gallery on the 10 o'clock news on 8th February.

Watch the interview below, starting from 23 minutes 44 seconds.
