'Flying from all my worries' - Nicole Riziki, 19, Nairobi
Turner Contemporary is delighted to be hosting a retrospective of MASK Prize, a social arts competition in Africa for young people under 25. Over the past five years MASK Prize has promoted creativity, innovation and self-expression with an emphasis on solving problems. This exhibition celebrates outstanding work across five categories: Schools, Visual Art, Music, Poetry and Entrepreneurial Ideas.
This is the third year that winning works from the competition have been exhibited at Turner Contemporary. Following this exhibition we will be showcasing the creative talents of pupils, students and educators from across Kent as part of our Portfolio competition. The link between MASK Prize and Portfolio provides an opportunity to learn from one another, celebrating the vital role of creativity in society as a whole.
