Turner Contemporary is delighted to be in its first year of collaboration with The MASK PRIZE, an annual arts competition for young people under the age of 25 living in Africa and people of African origin living outside the continent. Now in its fourth year, the competition set up by the charity MASK (Mobile Art School in Kenya), promotes creativity innovation and self-expression.

This year’s theme The Creative Nation, challenges young Africans to think about ways of celebrating, imagining and reflecting on the places they live in and the people they live with. The competition has been judged across four categories: under 13’s, visual art, schools and music. The prize-giving ceremony took place in Nairobi in June 2015.

This exhibition connects to Turner Contemporary’s vision Art Inspiring Change and we hope enables visitors to see the world differently through the creativity of young people.
