With just over a week till the gallery opens, the last of the auditions for Bodies in Urban Spaces took place on 1 and 2 April.

Bodies in Urban Spaces is a performance trail, choreographed by Willi Dorner, that will see participants create a trail of weird and wonderful site-specific body interventions around Margate Old Town.

It’s amazing what people can do with their bodies! Ian Dolan, who held the auditions, got the dancers trying lots of interesting body positions. We were amazed by how long the dancers could hold a handstand!

Over the next week the rehearsals will begin so don’t be alarmed if you see people around Margate and the Old Town squeezing their bodies between lamp posts, doorways and other architectural nooks and crannies!

As we get closer to launch, I’ll be giving you some further insights into preparations for YOU ARE HERE, our ten-day festival of free celebratory events.

Rehearsal for Willi Dorner's YOU ARE HERE event Bodies in Urban Spaces, Sat 16 and Sun 17 April
