Time of Our Lives

"Being a teenager in Thanet was frustrating and
exhilarating in equal measure."
"..Money was tight, at fifteen I had to get a job, earn
my keep and pay my way. The most exotic outings
were spent in one of the newly established and
highly stylish Italian ice-cream parlours/coffee bars
Pellosi's or Morelli's. It was considered the height of
sophistication."
Melody Bottle, from Ramsgate.
What is it like being a teenager today? What do you remember of that time in your life?
Each session will be led by artist Lucy Steggals and participants will make art work, organise a public event, and make visits locally and to London to collect stories, photographs and artifacts. Activities also include learning how to interview people through working with BBC Radio Kent, and learning about multimedia and new technologies with students from the University of Kent.
There will be an exhibition at the end of the project in March to display all the material gathered, art work created, and celebrate the achievements of everyone involved. The project will eventually feed into a major exhibition in the new Turner Contemporary gallery building in 2011.
