Celebrate
The Lone Twin Boat Project’s Maiden Voyage visit to Margate with four days of events in the town.
As part of the London 2012 Festival, the beautiful 32-foot yacht fashioned from over 1,200 wooden objects donated by people from communities in the South East, is sailing along the coast.
The Lone Twin Boat Project is part of the London 2012 Festival, a UK wide festival from 21 June – 9 September 2012 featuring leading artists from around the world which is the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad, funded by Arts Council England. Margate Hosts The Boat Project is funded by Kent County Council and Arts Council England.
The arrival of the yacht and an evening of community based celebrations, with music,
The boat is on display at Margate Harbour Arm, crew members will be on hand to talk about the
project. In the afternoon enjoy a magnificent new carnival procession, dance performance from
Motionhouse, and the free Ship’s Log Concert with specially commissioned music from Megan
Henwood and The Boat Project’s traveling artist 30 Pounds of Bone. Ship’s Log concert 4pm on
Castle Green.
A day of play on the beach with troubadour performances and out-sized paper boats. The
farewell Feast in the evening on the Harbour Arm. The Boat will remain on display all day.
The blessing and farewell to the boat and its crew with musical accompaniment.
