Stephen Hughes, Margate, 2010
Stephen Hughes, Margate, 2010
An exhibition of works by photographer Stephen Hughes, commissioned during the construction of Turner Contemporary, is now on show in our Café.

Stephen was commissioned to document the building of Turner Contemporary between winter 2009 and summer 2010. The series of striking photo portraits shown have been selected from those taken during this period. They capture the changes on site as the new building took shape, from close-up details of aspects of the interior to views of the building emerging against the Margate skyline.
Based in Brighton, Stephen Hughes has photographed across Europe and the U.S, producing evocative portraits of the areas that get left behind in the economic development and redevelopment of the suburban landscape. His work has been exhibited at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill-on-Sea as well as in major solo exhibitions in France, Germany and the U.S. His work has been featured in Blindspot, Portfolio, Tema Celeste and Camera Austria amongst others. He is represented by Robert Mann Gallery.

This exhibition is on show until 25 March 2012.
