Turner Contemporary, Stour Valley Arts and Canterbury City Council’s Museums and Galleries Service collaborated on a training and research project exploring how artists can work with disadvantaged children and young people facing challenges in their lives.

Until March this year, our intergenerational group Blank Canvas worked with artist .

Working with the University of Kent, we developed a series of 20 week Combined Studies Courses which gave local people access to University teaching.

We received funding from Thanet Works to deliver a 15 week course for 30 local unemployed people to provide them with core skills for working in a public facing role.

Our Page Turner competition gave artists and writers in secondary school or in further or higher education in Kent the chance to have their original art work or writing exhibited alongside professional artists in our forthcoming Nothing in the World But Youth exhibition 17 September 2011 - 8 January 2012.

In autumn 2009 we became one of a network of galleries and museums taking part in .

The Boat Project is the winning commission for Artist’s Taking The Lead - a major public art project that is part of the Cultural Olympiad.

The Page Turner competition is back!The theme this year is 'Determination and Courage', inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games values - athletes need to display these qualities to succeed and we'd aspiring Kent artists to create artworks based around this theme.
